Der Verfasser dieses Buches ist ein polnischer Kunsthistoriker, sein Mit-Autor Lehrer an einem Gymnasium in Bayern. Beide sind, trotz unterschiedlicher Nationalität, Kinder des Glatzer Landes und betrachten die Grafschaft als ihre Heimat. Beide fühlen sich dem gemeinsamen abendländischen Erbe verpflichtet. Schließlich haben in der Grafschaft Glatz Künstler gewirkt, die auch in Italien, Süddeutschland, Böhmen und Polen tätig waren. In diesem Sinne soll dieses Buch auch als übernationaler europäischer Brückenschlag verstanden werden. Dem Leser der polnischen Fassung dieses Buches soll bewußt werden, daß die früheren deutschen Bewohner dieses Marienlandes ihren Herrgott und ihre Albendorfer Madonna mit derselben Inbrunst verehrten, wie die Polen ihre Madonna von Tschenstochau. Auf diese Weise soll dem polnischen Leser klar werden, daß die ehemaligen Grafschafter kaum etwas mit den uniformierten Mordbrennern gemein haben konnten, die Polen von 1939 bis 1944 verwüstet hatten, und wie ungeheuer hart gerade diese tief gläubigen und unschuldigen Menschen 1945/1946 die Rache der Sieger und die Greuel der Vertreibung getroffen haben müssen. Die Verfasser danken Herrn Herbert Gröger, dem Redakteur des „Grafschafter Boten", für vielseitige Hilfe bei der Arbeit an diesem Buch.
